How It Works
The system is built into SiteJobs. No app to download. No extra software. Workers use their phone browser, employers use theirs.
- Employer sets up sites: Add site locations by postcode. Set a distance radius. Choose whether to allow, flag, or block check-ins outside the radius.
- Workers join with a code: The employer gives workers a 6-digit code. Workers enter it on their account, employer approves them.
- Worker checks in on arrival: Opens the Check-In tab on their phone, taps Check In. GPS captures their location. Distance from site is calculated automatically.
- Worker checks out when leaving: Taps Check Out. GPS captures again. Hours are calculated automatically.
- Employer views the dashboard: Live attendance, hours worked, distance from site, late alerts, weekly timesheets, CSV export, individual PDF timesheets.
GPS Verification
Every check-in and check-out requires GPS. If a worker denies location permissions on their phone, the system blocks the check-in. No GPS, no clock in. This is the core of the system: proof that the worker was physically on site when they say they were.
Employers can set three distance modes:
- Allow: Workers can check in from anywhere. Distance is recorded but not enforced.
- Flag: Workers can check in from anywhere, but check-ins outside the radius are flagged on the dashboard in red.
- Block: Workers cannot check in if they are outside the set radius. The check-in is refused and the worker sees a message telling them how far they are from site.
Break Deductions
Employers can set unpaid break policies. Choose how many breaks per shift and how long each break lasts. The system automatically deducts break time from gross hours when the worker checks out. Workers see their paid hours clearly: "Paid hours: 7.0h (7.5h minus 30min break)."
This matters for payroll. If a worker does 8.5 hours on site but gets a 30-minute unpaid break, the employer pays for 8.0 hours. The system calculates this automatically. No manual timesheet maths. No disputes about break time.
Weekly Timesheets and PDF Export
The attendance dashboard shows a daily breakdown for every worker: check-in time, check-out time, site name, distance from site, hours worked. The weekly timesheet section totals hours per worker for the week.
Export options:
- CSV export: Download the full daily breakdown or the weekly summary for payroll.
- PDF timesheet per worker: Generate an individual PDF with daily breakdown, gross hours, break deductions, paid hours, and signature lines for both worker and employer. Ready for payroll submission.
Late Alerts
Employers set a default start time in their config. Any worker who checks in after that time gets a red "Late" badge on the dashboard showing how many minutes late they were. No more arguing about who arrived on time. The record is there in black and white.
Worker Suspension
Employers can suspend workers who are causing problems. Suspended workers can't check in until reinstated. Check-in records are never deleted. The history is always preserved. This protects both sides: the employer has evidence if they need it, and the worker has a record of their hours.
Spot Checks
Employers can request a spot check at any time. The worker gets a notification on their phone. They tap "Share My Location" and their GPS is shared with the employer immediately. No waiting, no excuses. If the worker is on site, the spot check proves it. If they're not, the employer knows instantly.
Free for Employers
GPS Site Attendance is free. It works even when your SiteJobs trial expires. It's a tool, not a subscription. The marketplace features on SiteJobs (posting jobs, searching workers) are locked behind the subscription, but attendance tracking stays on permanently.

Setting It Up
If you're an employer on SiteJobs:
- Go to your Employer Account and click the Check-In tab
- You'll see your 6-digit company code. Give this to your workers.
- Add your site locations by postcode.
- Set your distance mode and radius.
- Set your break policy and default start time if needed.
- Approve workers when they join.
- Watch the dashboard. That's it.
If you're a worker:
- Register a worker account on SiteJobs.
- Go to your Worker Account and click the Check-In tab.
- Enter the 6-digit code your employer gave you.
- Wait for approval.
- Select your site, tap Check In when you arrive, tap Check Out when you leave.
